Tracking attendance with Tennis Locker has always been easy. A quick double tap is all it takes to mark players present as they arrive, creating accurate records available in real-time to academy directors, coaches, players, and parents.

With attendance tracked over 75,000 times so far, it’s one of our most used features—and today, it’s getting even better.

Introducing Session-based Attendance in Tennis Locker

Before now, players could be marked present once a day in our on-court app—but many juniors don’t just play tennis once a day!

Leading tennis academies trust Tennis Locker with their program management and player development, and their players often attend multiple tennis, fitness, and/or mental training sessions in one day.

Their schedules are demanding, and now, Tennis Locker is designed to keep up.

How Session-based Attendance Works in Tennis Locker

With Tennis Locker’s session-based attendance, players can attend multiple sessions in a day and be marked present for each one. (We see you trying to skip out before fitness training, little Logan!)

With four session categories, you can track attendance for:

  • Tennis Sessions
  • Fitness Sessions
  • Mental Training Sessions
  • Private Lesson Sessions

We make it easy to get started by automatically creating a Tennis Session and Fitness Session for each group in your academy. When taking attendance, you can simply select a group as you’ve always done, then select Tennis Session or Fitness Session from the new session dropdown and proceed as usual.

If you need to create more sessions to fit your academy’s training schedule, you’ll see that you can create new sessions at a Group Level or a Facility Level.

Group Level Sessions are linked to a particular group. For example, a full time academy group may need a Morning Session, Afternoon Session, and Fitness Session as their Group Level sessions.

Facility Level Sessions allow you to mark players present from any group. This is perfect for, let’s say, a fitness session open to all players in your academy.

You can also define a time frame and cost per session for each session, so Tennis Locker can compile your attendance data using the easy analytics you know and love.

Player Analytics will now include hours on court, which you can use for…

  • holding players accountable who are skipping out on training
  • monitoring player development to prevent overtraining
  • reference when billing at the end of the month

The added flexibility of session-based attendance creates endless options for tennis academies of all sizes. To explore the possibilities, let’s take a look at some example sessions for a sample academy we’ll call Ace Academy.

Example Sessions for an Academy

Ace Academy offers group and private tennis training for various skill levels, as well as a full-time program for homeschool players.

For groups with only one tennis session per day, Ace Academy uses the pre-loaded Tennis Session and Fitness Session to take attendance for each of these activities, but let’s take a look at the additional sessions this academy may need to create.

Example 1: Groups with Multiple Sessions Per Day

The Homeschool/Full Time players at Ace Academy attend multiple sessions a day, so we’ll need to create several Group Level Sessions to reflect that, such as:

  • Morning Tennis Training
  • Afternoon Tennis Training
  • Mental Training
  • Advanced Fitness Training
  • 1 Hour Private Lesson

To create Group Level sessions in the new iPhone/Android app, simply tap Sessions in the main menu. Tap the plus sign in the top corner to name the session, select the group, and select the session type. Enter the session’s time frame and cost per session, then tap save.

Example 2: Facility Level Training Sessions

In addition to tennis training, Ace Academy offers beginner fitness training sessions and mental training sessions that may be attended by players in Red Ball, Orange Ball, and Green Ball Groups. These sessions are created as Facility Level sessions to accommodate players from more than one group:

  • Beginner Fitness Training
  • Mental Training Session

When creating a new Facility Level session, simply toggle the “Facility Level Session” switch, and the dropdown for groups will disappear.
